We had another successful Wordly Wise Dress-up Day today!
For the next few weeks, we will be taking a pause on spelling to allow for a mid year assessment and evaluation of which skills on which to focus. We also will have the mid-year ERB tests the week of February 12 so homework will be lighter that week.
This week the girls were introduced to an upcoming project to celebrate Black History Month. Over the next month, we will create a collaborative class book on 14 different African-American women who have made an impact. Mrs. Irving reviewed different online resources and the girls practiced taking notes. Ask your daughter to tell you about "bubble notes" and why they are helpful.
We began reading one of my all time favorite books this week; Number the Stars. We are only 5 chapters into it and have seen much bravery and perseverance. Throughout this book will focus on character development and symbolism. We also spent some time learning about Denmark and it's geography.
